Grease and grime aren’t the only things you might find making a home in your kitchen ventilation system…

1. People

Timothy Cipriani was a recently paroled burgular who was found screaming for help stuck in the kitchen ventilation of a pizza restaurant in New York. He had crawled in from vent opening and got stuck with his feet dangling out of the canopy hood directly above a still hot fryer. It took 30 mins for police to release him and in the mugshot taken afterwards Timothy has covered in grease and grime from head to toe. That pizza restaurant needs to call Canopy Fan Cleaning to clean their kitchen duct work. We don’t fight crime, but we do fight grease – and win!

2. Bees

When environmentally minded owners of a restaurant in the Hollywood Hills LA discovered a hive of honeybees in their kitchen vent, instead of calling an exterminator they called a beekeeper to safely coax the bees out. The beekeeper attached a new hive in a cardboard box beside the vent and a cone shaped mesh to let the bees fly out of the vent but not back in. It took 4-6 weeks until the last bee shipped out and then they had to start cleaning out all the honey and honeycomb from the kitchen vent. Un-bee-lieveable. Canopy Fan Cleaning can help with sticky situations like this!

3. Birds

Where there’s bees, there’s birds. Birds in kitchen vents can be a common problem in spring time as smaller birds like starlings look for dry nesting places. Wildlife professionals will help you safely remove the birds, but birds can be grimy little creatures carrying lots of parasites and building up a lot of bird mess. The clean up will require a professional kitchen ventilation service clean – you know who to call…
