Extraction Cleaning Tools of the Trade
Extraction Cleaning is an industry that relies on a range of equipment and products to make our jobs go smoothly and safely.
Canopy Fan Cleaning makes use of the latest tools and products to ensure that all extraction cleaning systems, canopies and ductwork that we work on are cleaned to the highest standard.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Getting ready for a cleaning job means that we’ll consider all the risks to our staff. We might wear goggles, face masks, rubber gloves, or boiler suits when we start on a kitchen.
Scraper
This is the easy part. Accessible grease is scraped off the surface of the ducting, fan, and filters using a common metal scraper. Cloths are also used periodically
Degreaser
You’re familiar with washing up detergent, which is used to clean your greasy utensils… We use a stronger, industrial version for extract cleaning, which is designed to deal with stubborn and dried on deposits.
We tend to soak canopy grease filters in diluted Grease Cutter or similar, which safely breaks down the problem.
Diluted Degreaser is also sprayed onto scraped surfaces to break down the deposits further, though we leave it to work it’s magic before coming back to it.
Scourer
Again, this is a beefed-up version of a domestic version, and it’s used to physically breakup deposits after a short period of soaking in degreaser. Hot water is used to periodically dip into, as it tends to make the break down of fats easier.
Steamer
We’ll also make use of the power of steam. Steam cleaning systems are great at blasting away stubborn deposits, and kill bacteria too.
Rinse and Repeat
Sometimes we’ll need to go over an area of the kitchen extraction system a couple of times before we can sign off. We’d rather make sure that the job was totally complete.
